Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a small bowl, combine the flour, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
  3. In a large bowl, beat the softened butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar, and vanilla extract until creamy.
  4. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  5. Gradually add the flour mixture to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  6. Fold in the chocolate chips with a spatula until evenly distributed.
  7. Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto ungreased baking sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
Baking
  1. Bake for 9 to 11 minutes or until the edges are golden brown, and the centers are set.
  2. Allow cookies to cool on the baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring them to wire racks to cool completely.

Notes

You can replace semi-sweet chocolate chips with dark chocolate or white chocolate. Add nuts for a crunch, or sprinkle sea salt on top before baking. Store baked cookies in an airtight container for up to a week.
